NeuroTales: journeys in neuroscience research
Wig & Pen, 9 – 13 George Street, OX1 2AU
Science is a team effort and it is a lifelong journey. Hear from four people involved in neuroscience research at the University of Oxford, each with a story to tell. Link personal milestones with the global quest to understand the brain. Discover more about their journeys – how did they get here and where are they going?
Listen to Melissa Serrano, a Visiting Neuroscientist at the University of Oxford, who is on a journey to understand how neurons across the brain cooperate to form memories and make complex behaviours possible.
Listen to Faissal Sharif, a PhD student in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences. He is investigating novel non-invasive brain stimulation applications targeting psychiatric symptoms present in a variety of mood and neurological disorders.
Listen to Cecilia Lee-Bargagna, who works in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences as Lab and Facilities Technician. Her aim is to use storytelling to provide a full immersion in one of her “typical” days at work – there is always something happening, so no time to get bored!
Listen to Qiming Yuan (Simon), a DPhil student in the Department of Experimental Psychology. Simon is using brain imaging to investigate the altered brain activity in people who stutter, and non-invasive brain stimulation to study speech motor control ability in healthy individuals.
Suitable for teenagers and adults.
