Who the Festival is for
IF Oxford programmes events for families, adults and young people. People attend in groups and others join in alone because the Festival is friendly and welcoming.
While many of our audience members have an existing interest in science, we don’t assume specialist scientific or technical knowledge at our events.
We are keen to attract audiences who may not view themselves as being interested in science, programming events that cover topics that are interesting and relevant to a diversity of people, in formats that are inclusive and engaging.
Our audience logic model is based on British Science Association data that describes the UK adult population as approximately:
10% Professionals who produce or curate scientific knowledge
15% Enthusiastic about science, actively seek content / events
50% Open to science but make no particular efforts to engage
25% See science as not for them (as it is usually packaged)
