By William, age 10
The sky was eerie dark inside my shining eyes,
Apart from hundreds of beautiful stars glimmering brightly and glowing wonderfully.
As I looked through the telescope, I saw swirls of purple blue light,
Like arms of galaxies, I gazed up with awe and might.
As everyone would feel, that shimmering sense,
Of peace and joy, the secrets of space.
The wonderful astrology stood before my cosmic hands,
As I drifted off, slowly into the unknown.
I saw black holes that tried to squeeze me flat, moons of planets and even a supernova!
The further I went, the more I saw.
Then it was asteroids big as skyscrapers and planets with large rings and a nebula.
The further I went, the more I saw.
As I returned back from my space journey,
I flopped in bed, and dreamt about it all again.
