STEM Sisters: x-raying materials

Oxford Works (beside Oxford Factory), Oxford Business Park, South, Oxford OX4 2SU

Take a voyage of discovery, solving puzzles, asking questions, making predictions and performing tests. Hear about landmark scientific discoveries by Rosalind Franklin, Kathleen Lonsdale and Dorothy Hodgkin in a thrilling family performance. See crystals with a microscope, the diffraction of light through gratings and explore the behaviours of matter, light and atoms through the eyes of these women pioneers.

Dr Rowena Fletcher-Wood is a freelance science communicator and storyteller. She has a Masters in Chemistry from Oxford University and PhD from Birmingham University in analytical materials chemistry. She has spent a lot of time firing x-rays at novel materials, and is now a chartered chemist and Chair of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Environmental Chemistry Group.

Jina and the STEM Sisters is presented by HMDT Music
