Robot racing extravaganza

Iffley Road Sports Centre, Iffley Road, Oxford OX4 1SR

What does a robotic dog tacking an obstacle course have to do with the sun? Robots are tougher than people so they can travel to places a human wouldn’t dare. The UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) will explain all and you will be able to see the SPOT robo-dogs in action on an obstacle course.  You’ll also have the chance to manipulate a robot arm and make a ‘scribblebot’ – a robot that draws.

You can arrive any time between 1pm and 2.30pm. The event closes at 3pm.

Weather permitting, robot racing will take place outdoors, and hands-on activities indoors.

Parking at the Sports Centre is limited, so please consider using public transport. Bus routes 3, 3a, ST1, X39 and X40 stop on Iffley Road close to the Sports Centre and the venue is a 12 minute walk from St Clements, which is served by multiple bus routes including the 400 Thornhill / Seacourt Park and Ride.

IF Oxford uses Pay What You Decide (PWYD) ticketing so you can choose to pay whatever you want, or can afford. You can make your donation during booking or after the event and the amount you pay is up to you. A suggested donation of £5 per person for each event enjoyed will help secure the future of the Festival. IF Oxford is run by The Oxfordshire Science Festival (charity #1151361) and your donation may be eligible for Gift Aid, where a charity can claim back an extra 20% of your donation at no cost to you.
