Reclaim your life in a tech-obsessed world
Somerville College Chapel, Woodstock Road, OX2 6HD
You’re constantly getting the message that you’re being controlled by technology – but do you actually have far more agency than you think? Psychologists Elaine Kasket and Ulrik Lyngs discuss how to get back in the driver’s seat in your interactions with tech, in a conversation that will help you align your technology use with the kind of life and relationships you want.
Elaine Kasket is a psychologist, speaker and writer, and an expert on the modern challenges and opportunities brought about by technology. Speaking about life, relationships, privacy and the power of big tech, Elaine appears frequently in the mainstream media as well as on podcasts and at major festivals. Elaine will be signing copies of her book Reboot: Reclaiming Your Life in a Tech-Obsessed World at the event.
Ulrik Lyngs is a researcher at the Department of Computer Science, University of Oxford. His PhD research on digital self-control received a Doctoral Prize from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. He created the Reduce Digital Distraction workshop, which since 2019 has helped over 900 students take back control of their time and attention on smartphones and laptops.
Suitable for teenagers and adults.
