RACE to the future – robotics and you

New Road Baptist Church, Bonn Square, Oxford OX1 1LQ

The future is now. Robots are changing everyday life. From automating production lines to driving cars, there’s almost nothing robots can’t do. This is especially true within challenging environments where people can’t go. Join Nick Sykes from the UK Atomic Energy Authority’s robotics facility, RACE and learn more about what a ‘challenging environment’ is, where you might find a robot, and how you could team up with robots every day.

Nick Sykes is head of operations for RACE, the UKAEA’s centre of excellence specialising in robotic solutions in challenging and hazardous environments and will describe how his team have worked on solutions to the world’s greatest challenges from clearing up after disasters, solving the world’s energy crisis and navigating the Mars rover.

IF Oxford uses Pay What You Decide (PWYD) ticketing so you can choose to pay whatever you want, or can afford. You can make your donation during booking or after the event and the amount you pay is up to you. A suggested donation of £5 per person for each event enjoyed will help secure the future of the Festival. IF Oxford is run by The Oxfordshire Science Festival (charity #1151361) and your donation may be eligible for Gift Aid, where a charity can claim back an extra 25% of your donation at no cost to you.
