Pets and their people

The Story Museum, 42 Pembroke Street, OX1 1BP

Author, vet and CBeebies presenter Dr Jess French shows how, even if you can’t own a pet, you can still care for animals in lots of other ways – from volunteering at animal shelters to leaving food for them out in the wild. From old favourites such as playful puppies and cuddly cats, to more unusual pets such as lizards and snakes, there are many fascinating animals to meet.

Suitable for ages 7 – 12.

Followed by book signing.

Jess French started her presenting career on CBeebies, hosting the twenty part series Minibeast Adventure with Jess, which encouraged children to get outside and learn about the insects and invertebrates around them. Most recently, Jess presented series 1 and 2 of Wild Inside, a Radio 4 series which explored the internal and external anatomy of a range of extraordinary animals. A role which was informed by her work as a vet, where she is comfortable treating the whole spectrum of animals, from domestic and farm to wildlife and zoo.
