Live Lab Family Day

Science Oxford Centre, off Quarry Road, Oxford, OX3 8SB

Join guest researchers from the University of Oxford’s Pandemic Sciences Institute in the Live Lab along with the Science Oxford Centre’s regular Family Day activities. Indoors, discover and have fun experimenting with the air table, giant magnetic ball run and curious camera in the Exploration Zone. Outdoors, the Water Lab and 15 acres of woodland and ponds give space to unleash your inner explorer.

Sessions available 10am – 12pm, 12.30 – 2.30pm and 3 – 5pm

Facilities:
Parking available.
Emira’s Kitchen café is open 10am–4pm, serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and home-made rolls. You are also welcome to bring your own refreshments and picnic to eat at the indoor or outdoor lunch tables.

Activities include:
Two-hour timeslot in the Exploration Zone, including a Live Lab activity on ‘Making your own virus’ (see below for details). Tickets also give access to the woodland, outdoor areas and Water Lab from 10am–5pm (change of clothes recommended).

Live Lab: Make your own virus
Viruses are too small to see with your own eyes but imagine if you were shrunk very small, what would a virus actually look like? In this Live Lab you can make your own virus using a range of materials – but be quick immune cells are coming to fight it!
