Live Lab Family Day
Science Oxford Centre, off Quarry Road, Oxford, OX3 8SB
Join guest researchers from the University of Oxford’s Biology Department in the Live Lab along with the Science Oxford Centre’s regular Family Day activities. Indoors, discover and have fun experimenting with the air table, giant magnetic ball run and curious camera in the Exploration Zone. Outdoors, the Water Lab and 15 acres of woodland and ponds give space to unleash your inner explorer.
Sessions available 10am – 12pm, 12.30 – 2.30pm and 3 – 5pm

Emira’s Kitchen café is open 10am-4pm, serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and home-made rolls. You are also welcome to bring your own refreshments and picnics to eat at the indoor or outdoor lunch tables.
Activities include:
Two-hour timeslot in the Exploration Zone, including a Live Lab activity on ‘The ageing game’ (see below for details). Tickets also give access to the woodland, outdoor areas and Water Lab from 10am–5pm (change of clothes recommended). 10am–5pm (change of clothes recommended).
Live Lab: The ageing game
As humans approach the end of their lives, they lose vitality, and their bodies start to fail – this is called senescence. Strangely though, senescence doesn’t happen to all living things. Play games to discover why some species show no change in performance with age and some even improve!
